Don't forget, tram fares are cheaper at off-peak times - Mon-Fri after 9.30am, weekends and bank holidays! There are loads of other ways to save money on tram travel, so read on...
Under 16? Need to prove it?
If the answer is yes, then skip the hassle and prove your age the easy way with our Under 16 card. Download the application form or pick one up from a GMPTE Travelshop. If you are between 13 and 15 years old you must have an Under 16 card to obtain child fares on Metrolink.
What's the cost?
Pay almost half the adult fares on Metrolink trams. When getting your ticket at the tram stop, simply press the single or return child-fare button (not the concessionary one) and you're done.
Aged 16-19?
If you're aged between 16-19 and in full-time education you could be eligible for a Scholar's Permit. Use it to pay approximately half price for train and tram fares to and from college and just 80p for bus fares. Bargain.
Download a Scholar's permit application form or get one from a GMPTE Travelshop.
Free Metrolink tram travel with train tickets
You can travel on Metrolink trams for free in the city centre zone with any single, return, season or Rail Ranger train ticket when travelling from a station in Greater Manchester to a station in the city centre. View Metrolink route map.
