Train Tickets

Single & return tickets
Ideal for one-off journeys or day trips, you can buy these directly from the station or on board the train if the ticket office is closed.

Rail Ranger tickets
Give yourself unlimited off-peak train travel throughout Greater Manchester. You can get them from the ticket office or on board the train if the station is un-staffed. Visit the Transport for Greater Manchester website for the latest prices.

Rail season tickets
If you have a rail season ticket for travel between two stations in Greater Manchester, you can travel as often as you like, at any time, between them. Not only that, you can travel by any train, anywhere in Greater Manchester, for free at weekends.

Buy your rail season ticket for a week, a month or even up to a year, and if you're under 16 you'll only have to pay approximately half the adult fare. Season tickets for longer than a month can only be bought from main train stations, but the others are available from all staffed stations and train conductors (if the ticket office is closed). You need a season ticket ID card to buy one. Get an application form from any staffed rail station.

Accompanied travel for under 16's
When accompanied by an adult, up to 4 young people under 16 can travel for a reduced fare - which is usually lower than the child half fare! Not bad. Visit the Transport for Greater Manchester website for the latest prices.

This is available on all train services in Greater Manchester when the adult possesses any valid rail ticket (except a Rail Ranger or DaySaver).
